Evalution the Load Distribution Factors for Horizontally Curved Composite Concrete-Steel Girder Bridges

Engineering and Technology Journal

Online resource

In this research paper, a 3-D finite element model was used for the analysis of curved concrete slab on steel girder bridges. A parametric study was carried out to calculate the load distribution factors for horizontally curved steel I-girder bridges based on (AASHTO LRFD) live loads .The bridges are analyzed by three dimensional finite elements using SAP 2…

Effect of Different Downward Loads and Rotational Speeds on the Removal of Gutta-Percha and Root Canal Sealer Using a Nickel-Titanium Rotary Gutta-Percha Removal System: An Ex Vivo Study

Applied Sciences

Online resource

This study aimed to examine how varying downward loads and rotational speeds affect the removal efficiency and torque/force generation of the HyFlex Remover. Sixty transparent straight resin canals filled with gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer were prepared using the HyFlex Remover at two rotational speeds (400 and 800 rpm) and three downward loads (2, 3, and…

Day-Ahead Electric Load Forecasting for the Residential Building with a Small-Size Dataset Based on a Self-Organizing Map and a Stacking Ensemble Learning Method

Applied Sciences

Online resource

Electric load forecasting for buildings is important as it assists building managers or system operators to plan energy usage and strategize accordingly. Recent increases in the adoption of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) have made building electrical consumption data available, and this has increased the feasibility of data-driven load forecasting.

BaPa: A Novel Approach of Improving Load Balance in Parallel Matrix Factorization for Recommender Systems

Newcastle University

Online access details

A commonly used method is to divide the matrix into multiple non-intersecting blocks and concurrently calculate them. This operation causes the Load balance problem, which significantly impacts parallel performance and is a big concern.

Poster 58. Preoperative Corticosteroid Injection History Does Not Influence Meniscal Allograft Transplantation Survivorship or Failure Rates

Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine

Online resource

Objective: Meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) is a joint-preserving option for patients with symptomatic meniscal deficiency unresponsive to nonoperative care. By restoring tibiofemoral load transmission, MAT can relieve pain, improve function, and potentially delay osteoarthritis progression.

Septoria leaf blotch and reduced nitrogen availability alter WRKY transcription factor expression in a codependent manner.

Newcastle University

Online resource

Resistance in commercial wheat varieties is poor, however, a link between reduced nitrogen availability and increased Septoria tolerance has been observed. We have shown that Septoria load is not affected by nitrogen, whilst the fungus is in its first, symptomless stage of growth.
