Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs)—Roles in Regenerative Therapies, Disease Modelling and Drug Screening

Cells

Online resource

Since the controversy around ethicality of ESCs continue to be debated, iPSCs have been used to circumvent the process around destruction of the human embryo. The use of iPSCs have transformed biological research, wherein increasing number of studies are documenting nuclear reprogramming strategies to make them beneficial models for drug screening as well a…

Shared taxis: modelling the choice of a paratransit mode in Santiago de Chile

Newcastle University

Online access details

This represents about 4% of the total trips made in the city, and this modal share increases in zones and periods with low Metro and bus coverage. This study is a first attempt at studying shared taxis as a relevant transport alternative, analysing its main attributes and modelling its demand.

Landscape fragmentation and pollinator movement within agricultural environments: a modelling framework for exploring foraging and movement ecology

PeerJ

Online resource

A modelling framework is described that uses spatially-explicit individual-based models to explore the effects of individual behavioural rules within a landscape. The technique described gives a simple method for exploring the effects of the removal of wild corridors, and the creation of wild set-aside fields: interventions that are common to many national…

Dynamic simulation of a 4th generation district heating network with the presence of prosumers

Energy Conversion and Management: X

Online resource

Most of the models for thermal grids developed during past years usually assumed a centralized production of the consumed heat. The increasing presence of prosumers will require accurate dynamic modelling to monitor the changes induced in the thermohydraulic parameters of the network.
