Using a Cellular Automata-Markov Model to Reconstruct Spatial Land-Use Patterns in Zhenlai County, Northeast China

Energies

Online resource

Then the three-map comparison methodology was employed to assess the predictive accuracy of the transition modeling. The model could produce backward projections by analyzing land use changes in recent decades, assuming that the present land use pattern is dynamically dependent on the historical one.

The Role of Wearable Sensors to Monitor Physical Activity and Sleep Patterns in Older Adult Inpatients: A Structured Review

Newcastle University

Online resource

Most studies reported the use of only one sensor, with either the wrist or thigh being the preferred location in PA studies and the wrist for sleep outcomes. The reported PA measures can be mostly characterised as the frequency and duration of PA (Volume) with fewer measures relating to intensity (rate of magnitude) and pattern of activity (distribution per…

Probation/Parole Officer Interactions with Women Offenders: Do Relationship Style and Communication Pattern Predict Outcomes?

ICPSR - Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research

Online access details

The project purpose was to better understand the nature of probation/parole agent interactions with substance-involved women offenders and the degree to which these interactions predict women’s recidivism, rules violation, and changes in their crime-related needs.

Receptor allostery promotes context-specific Sonic Hedgehog signaling during embryonic development

Nature Communications

Online resource

Abstract Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) signaling functions in temporal- and context-dependent manners to pattern diverse tissues during embryogenesis. The signal transducer Smoothened (SMO) is induced by sterols, oxysterols, and arachidonic acid (AA) through binding pockets in its extracellular cysteine-rich domain (CRD) and 7-transmembrane (7TM) bundle.

Evidence for the different physiological significance of the 6- and 2-minute walk tests in multiple sclerosis

BMC Neurology

Online resource

This recommendation has not been based on physiological considerations such as the rate of oxygen consumption (V·O2) over the 6MW range. Objective This study examined the pattern of change in V·O2 over the range of the 6MW in a large sample of persons with MS who varied as a function of disability status.

Time-domain image processing using photonic reservoir computing

EPJ Web of Conferences

Online resource

Here, we propose a scalable image processing approach, which uses a temporal degree of freedom of photons. In the proposed approach, the spatial information of a target object is compressively transformed to a time-domain signal using a gigahertz-rate random pattern projection technique.

Water mites (Acari, Hydrachnidia) of riparian springs in a small lowland river valley: what are the key factors for species distribution?

PeerJ

Online resource

The landscape factors and physicochemical parameters of the water were analysed in order to gain an understanding of the pattern of water mite assemblages in the riparian springs. Three limnological types of springs were examined (helocrenes, limnocrenes and rheocrenes) along the whole course of the river and a total of 35 water mite species were found.
